1921 Formal beginning of the cooperative’s business with potatoes, chestnuts, hazelnuts, apples and walnuts.
1922 The obligatory delivery of the entire production of the partners to the Organization is established.
1923Crisis in the Organization. Administration asks for scrutiny by competent authorities.
1924 President of the Cooperative is George N. Vourazelias, a former member of the commercially active community of Pelion people in Egypt.
1927 The Bank of Greece is founded, and the founding of the Agricultural Bank of Greece, which will take place two years later, is agreed in Geneva between the Greek government and the Committee of the League of Nations.
1928 Huge increase of potato production of the Cooperative, from 700,000 to 3,000,000 kilograms, according to a document to NBG.
1929 In the middle of the road to Chorefto is the garden of Zagora, with scientifically cultivated fruit tree nurseries. The superintendent agronomist told us that all the apples are now sent to all the villages of Pelion (Elli Apostolidou in the short story “The Pelion Zagora”).
1930 The first advertisement of the Cooperative in the newspaper "Thessalian Press". 1931 Vertical fall in the value of Greek bonds and rumors of a possible bankruptcy of Greece. 1932 Suspension of government payments is declared as a result of the country's external debt swelling due to the international financial crisis and the decline in exports. 1933 Construction of the road from Volos to Zagora. 1934 A bill is being drafted for the support of the producers of Zagora who have been damaged by hail, following the intervention of the Cooperative.
1937 Construction of the warehouse of the Cooperative in Chorefto. Products are transported almost exclusively by sea.
1938 222 new members are registered to the Cooperative. The Cooperative manages to distribute 50% of Zagora total agricultural production.
1939The Governor of the Agricultural Bank announces a loan for irrigation projects to be carried out by the Community at a cost of 2,000,000 drachmas in the region of Zagora, which will contribute to increasing production.
1940 War. Forced suspension of the democratic functions of the Cooperative, such as the convergence of General Meetings.
1941 In January, the first Cooperative Body meeting is held, after the declaration of war, and it is the Supervisory Board.
1942 The Cooperative operates normally, but the General Μeeting doesn’t take place.
1943 The Italians who occupate the region burn houses in Zagora, in retaliation for the death of an Italian soldier.
1944 The Cooperative cooperates with other Organizations, within the framework of the exchange economy, for the purpose of feeding the village.
1945 Publishing of the Order of Payment (included in a British Museum's edition for the World History of Money).
1946 Creation of self-insurance capital to cover a possible marine casualty during transportation.
1947Civil war makes it impossible to converge General Meetings.
1948Inability to hold elections for the administration of the Cooperative due to the civil war.
1949 Fire and destruction of the Chorefto warehouses during a civil war battle. Excellent olive crop.
1950 Establishment of a Medical Care Fund for the members of the Cooperative.
1951Reduction of the cooperative dynamics and slow growth rate.
1952 The Cooperative develops the activity of marketing agricultural supplies throughout Eastern Pelion.
1953 Market research for apple exports in the northern countries and Egypt.
1954 The financial situation of the Cooperative is deteriorating. Damages to installations from the earthquake.
1955 The cultivation of the “starking apples” variety gradually starts to expand. Until then, some old apple varieties are cultivated, such as "manies", "skioupia", "gine", "bellfor", "renedes", and especially the firikia which are called "The King of Apples", and basic crops are also hazelnuts, potatoes, olives and chestnuts.1956Apples production is twice the potato production.1957 The potato production is tossed. The smell of rotten potatoes is unbearable in a long range. A few years later, the cultivation of potatoes for marketing, is abandoned.
1958Efforts for economic reorganization. 1959 First reports of creating a refrigarator unit that would serve the villages of Zagora, Pouri, Makrirachi and Anilio. 1960Producers' Conference in Agria on the organization of the primary sector through Cooperatives. Rapid spread of the "starking" apples variety.
1961Evidence of economic improvement is recorded. 1962 The Cooperative is active in the payment of agricultural pensions in the area, on behalf of ATE bank. 1963 Decision to settle debts and to promote products, mainly with potatoes and chestnuts. 1964Reconstruction of the Cooperative with the mass registration of 50 producers, aiming at the joint marketing of apples.
1965 Operation of the wholesales store at the Central Market of Athens in Rentis. It still remains in the same position, A15-17.
1967 Pears are for the first time a separate issue of the partners, at a meeting, a sign of the upward course of cultivation. 1968 Depose of the elected administration and compulsory appointment of a new one under the regime of 21 April 1967. 1969Common marketing products are apples from the starkin varieties, fyriki and pears. 1970The number of members' withdrawals increases considerably, for the first time since 1951.
1977The apples are tossed. No decent compensation is given. Blockades at "Karavoma" junction. 1978 Increment of the amount of penalty clause for those members who do not deliver their entire production to the Cooperative. 1979 2nd Law on Cooperatives (Law 921/1979). First Expansion of the Refrigerators wing. 1980First Apple Feast, with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Chrysostomos Karapperis (Rallis Government).
1981Greece joins the EEC (1/1/1981). Decision to purchase the first electronic sorting machine. 1982 Registration of 221 new members in just one year. The production increases from 1.000 to 5.200 tons. Recognized as a Producers Group under the EEC regulation 1035/72. One wing of the refrigerators is destroyed by fire. This wing is still called the ”burned” wing. Announced “Pilot Cooperative” by the Ministry of Agriculture.
1983Strengthening of the cooperative movement, with European subsidies for the withdrawal of non-tradable products, only for cooperative farmers. 1984Setup in renovated privately owned offices. Second expansion of the refrigerators wing. Inauguration from the Agriculture Minister Costas Simitis, later Prime Minister of the country.
1985Opening of the supermarket of the cooperative. New charter. Change of the brand name to AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE OF ZAGORA PILIO. 3rd Law on Cooperatives (Law 1541/1985).
1986Gaining the first award by the Ministry of Agriculture for high export performance. Major disasters from a flood on November 4. First drafting of the ZAGORIN logo brand. 1987A section of the refrigerators collapses due to a snowstorm in March. Third expansion of the refrigerator wing. They are the largest in the Balkans.
1996Registration of PDO "APPLES of ZAGORA PELION". The first entry for PDO in the EU for apples.
Placement of the ZAGORIN tag on every apple.
TV advertising begins.
1997 Pilot integration into an integrated production management program. Recognized as a Producer Group under the new EU Regulation 2200/96. Implementation of Annual Operational Plans. Organizing a PROGNOSFRUIT Pan-European Conference in Volos.
2006 Integrated production reaches 100%.
2009Turnaround to environmentally friendly cultivation methods. The first member of the Cooperative to certify as an organic farmer.

2019 The Cooperative establishes the Energy Community of ZAGORIN, in collaboration with the Agricultural Cooperatives of Pouri and Makryrachis which are its members as legal entities, the Women Agrotourism Cooperative of Zagora and the Agricultural Association of Zagora.
